Fly Me Courageous
Fly Me Courageous is a rabid foursome of the most punk rock, monochromatic-tie-wearing, guitar slinging, fart ripping young musicians I have had the pleasure to hear. The quartet hailing from Nutley, New Jersey formed in 2001. Original members Bas (lead vocals,guitars), E (Bass,vocals), and Lam (Drums,vocals) were joined in 2002 by Joe-Balls (lead,rhythem guitars,vocals). Their recent release, “La Mia Bella Ritardata” showcases FMC’s ability to rock hard and fast and then slow it down a bit, for the ladies.
AX. Where did you guys come across the name 'Fly Me Courageous'? How long have you been together?
This is actually a cool story Bas's uncle told him while in the airforce. They used to write 'Fly Me Courageous' on their jet fighters before taking off for battle...something along those lines...And No, it’s not that Drivin and Cryin song...
AX. Who are you guys?
We are multi-talented Rock band formed in Nutley, New Jersey late 2001 a mark in the music seen. A search had begun to find the "balls" of the band...lol...in late 2001. On February of 2002 the search for a lead guitar player had ended with Joe-balls joining the shrine and completing the lineup.
In 2003, we released our first EP 'The Radio EP' with engineer Anthony DiBenedetto at the controls. The EP had received local and international recognition with the single 'Ex-girlfriend'. So, in late 2004, we were back in the studio - this time with engineer Max Casalnova at Clearcut Recording Studio's in Garfield, NJ slaving over the mixing board as he helped create our follow-up EP entitled 'La Mia Bella Ritardata'.
Collectively, we have been kickin-ass all over the tri-state area in our live performances, with intense contagious melodies, sharp hooks and explosive vocals . FMC will save your life, or at least make you want to fight for it. Check out a live show and you'll be hooked too.
There has been amazing feedback since the release of our last EP "La Mia Bella Ritardata" (if you were wondering... it means...my beautiful retard...in Italian) with new fans and friends coming out to see us consistently with their overwhelming support...(FMC fans rule!)
AX. What's with this new EP...The sound is so varied I can't help but feel that this is the buildup to a full length. Do you guys have a title? Who are you working with?
We are currently writing, producing and arranging the songs on our own with Bas at the helm. By the time all four of us put our 2 cents in...another kick ass FMC song is born. We aren't looking to sound just like every other Power-pop/Rock band out there (no offence to anyone..lol) And with our variety of music styles in the band, we cover a wide range which gives a different flavor to just about every song. Full length CD? Yea...when a record company steps up and pays for it...LOL
AX. Which bands/ musicians have influenced you the most?
Personally, my influences range from 70s and 80s rock like Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Steve Vai, Eddie etc...(my band's gonna cringe) to Cheap Trick, Weezer, Fall out Boy, The Used...
AX. What touring band would you like to open for?
Anyone who will have us on their bill...We truly are a 4 piece rock show. We will get a hold of you and trance you until the sound of our last chord...They kiss you goodnight...;o)
AX. Who farts the most in the band?
The farter of the band would have to be Bas. Although, Lam comes in at a close 2nd.
AX. I saw on your web site you have a lot of funny pictures...who has the best or most rotten sense of humor? Tell me a joke…
That would have to go to the one and only e....Eric could just be the funniest man that's ever walked this earth. He's a character and a half with a twisted sense of humor....How does he do that! I wouldn't trade him in for anyone.....(Plus his chops ain't bad either....
AX. When is your next show and where can I purchase the EP?
